Lots of new faces on the site lately. I figured my post yesterday calling Liza out would light a fire underneath some of the Scoutmob vets but it didn’t. Probably because at this point they’re too lazy to even check the site and read a paragraph of words. Maybe if Capilouto was a little busier making calls and a little less busy talking about how much he really likes my beard, he can get his picture back on the site.
Alright back to business here. Huge win for Payton today and arguably an even bigger win for everyone at HQ. I was in the kitchen this morning making some coffee and she actually asked me if it was ok if she cleaned the kitchen. Uh yeah knock yourself out. A few hours later we had the cleanest refrigerator I’ve ever seen in my life. A big shout out to Dougie Fresh for his help. Payton added later that she plans on cleaning out the microwave for her next undertaking. Don’t worry we’ll have the plaque ready for you when you’re done.
Big day today for Shafin and just another day in the books at GJT. We’ve had a lull the past couple days and I would have given an award if someone had done something GJT worthy but everyone has done just a below average job since Liza won, especially her. The win went to her head and she has done just a hair above jack shit since then so hopefully pulling the award off her desk will inspire her to work hard again. Maybe that’s why she looks so ultra pissed in her daily photo bomb. Soooooo back to our winner. Shafin really crushed it out today and went above and beyond. He saw a phone book get delivered and dropped it on the desk of the one person who’d actually get some use out of it. Who has two thumbs, knee jerk reactions, and can almost dunk a tennis ball on a 6 ft basketball rim? No not me, our dear CFO Mr. Paul Herrin. The excitement on Paul’s face solidified the fact that we indeed found our GJT winner today. It’s the little things that count Shafin and I didn’t bring that up because it was a mini phone book, it was because of the thoughtfulness. Keep it up Shafin, I predict you may win at least one more time in 2012.
Todays GJT winner got the plaque for enduring a car wreck (not her fault she swears) and then made it back to work to be marginally productive. Thanks Dunning! This photo is pretty amazing because Liza is typically the photo bomber not the bombee. Shout out to Evan “Blazer” Pease for all the help. Drive home safe Liza.
We have a GJT newbie. Probably the best response I’ve seen so far from the recipient of this very special award. Was Jarod surprised? Um yes. Was he happy? I’m pretty sure. Did he know what the crap this little plaque even meant? Nope not even close. I’m pretty sure he asked me what the hell I was even trying to give him. He was also pretty hesitant taking the plaque from me when I tried to give it to him. Well shit Jarod give it a couple weeks and you’ll be fist fighting people in the office for this amazing award made of fake wood, plastic, and paper. Congrats buddy, soak it in you deserve it. Keep the emails coming.
Ok kids. Guess who’s back and better than ever? Don’t answer that please and thank you because it’s definitely not Whitney Houston risen from the dead. After lots of grumblings and straight up shit talking we decided to to bring GJT back. To be honest with you, we’ve been ready to bring it back for some time but nobody’s really done enough to qualify for this award by my standards. Just to catch you up on what you’ve missed: Barry stole Foroobar’s desk out from under him. Pretty ballsy but not worthy. Evan got engaged to his girlfriend Emily. Eh decent but we all saw that one coming so sorry Blazer that’s not enough to bring that fancy particle board plaque out of retirement. Knock her up and then we can reconsider. Now bringing in King Cakes, beads, flags, and mimosas to the office on Fat Tuesday? That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I’m honored to bring this puppy out of retirement in your honor Oscar. It is much deserved. Thank you for torpedoing the office’s productivity today but that’s ok. Zopi can make up for the 6 mimosas she drank today by getting 10 appointments tomorrow in ATL for Paul and Stephen. Prayers, blessings, and glad to be back. See you tomorrow people.
I usually am way behind on my yams. So when someone yams about some snack or treat that they left out for the office I’m usually three to four days behind and miss out. If I’m on top of ‘em, sweets never get me too excited. When Nicole brings in empanadas (that came from down the street but somehow in my stupidity thought she flew them back from Argentina) or Luke brings in Papusas, I’m all over it. When D Payne yammed “goodies are next to the coffee pot. run. don’t walk” I still wasn’t very excited. I got up about 30 mins later to get cup of coffee number 2 and saw a couple chocolate chip cookies sitting on a plate and decided to give one a whirl. Holy shitballs was the first thought that ran through my mind before the second thought of doing X-rated things to the final cookie popped in there. Come to find out after a little bit o’ research that Debbie is quite the baker. Yeah no shit. So today I’m proud to award Dave and Debbie as the first husband and wife recipient of the GJT award as well as the first to get two naughty words in their write up. Give it up for Debbie the baker and Dave the delivery guy. Maybe if we’re nice they might bring in some more tasty treats…
It took her a while to get her first win but I have a feeling she was just a GJT late bloomer. Today we didn’t have any Freelancers at all to write Monday’s Seattle Deal. It was stressful for a bit and I definitely saw a hissy fit or two and heard a couple over dramatic sighs from Liza but she prevailed. She made it happen and found someone to write it up and that’s how she earned this 2nd win. Great Job Today Liza! Now just make sure you don’t Dunning that plaque I gave you in the Ladies room.
This award today was tough. There were a lot of good things going on across the company but at the end of the day it was an easy decision. Most of you probably don’t know this but we’ve made a recent push to have all content out at least one week which is quite the undertaking for our editors. We knew it wouldn’t be easy and it was going to take a ton of work at first to get a week out but this girl worked hard Friday, over the weekend, and on Monday to officially be the first editor out a week. I’m happy to award the plaque to Bre Lambert for having all of Monday’s (10/3/11) content in by last night. I unfortunately spent the GJT start up fund sending the plaque out to DC first class on Friday so I wasn’t able to get a photo op but hopefully this will do. Bre you know the drill. Print out this picture of the plaque and hang it on your fridge until we announce the new winner for tomorrow. Once the new winner is named you need to either shred, incinerate, or eat this award so it cannot be duplicated by any of www.greatjobtoday.info’s competitors. Don’t forget to call your parents and let them know about the award before destroying it, they will be proud.
Dougie Fresh and Willie tore it up yesterday to get this one. You might say hey wait a sec how can a dog win this award? But without her inspiration Doug coulda never done it. He was able to rearrange the calendars in 4 markets to get killer deals all coordinated to run on 10/10 for us. It’s going to be big. He was also able to provide some entertainment to a lot of us yesterday by not taking any shit from a merchant who was trying to screw us out of some money he owed us. Doug was a slam dunk for the win yesterday. Atta boy Dougie and atta girl Willie.
This team has had a GJT in the works for a while. From closing deals, to stellar account management, to amazing writing, and of course to all the hard work that went in to planning the launch party I can definitely say that DC has been on a tear. I can also say they were lucky enough to be the first out of state winners we have seen so far. I might need to start hitting the road to raise some funds. This plaque’s expense report blew though everything we had from our initial investors. Flying an award first class to our nation’s capital is more expensive than I thought.
